This painting was inspired by wetlands close to where I live and often go mountain biking.

I recently stopped at one to watch a kingfisher fishing (I think my favorite bird). But I've also seen beaver, ducks or herons at these spots too. I also love the reflections which bring a scene of colour to an otherwise undescript and recovering second growth forest.

Original will be part of May/June exhibit @tintown.cafe and prints or cards will also be in my online shop soon.

You may read more about my inspiration behind this painting in my latest blogpost on my website - link on homepage.
Some most recent and/or most popular heart cards o Some most recent and/or most popular heart cards over the years. I do these smaller heart paintings as a side series to other work. I have fun coming up with as many variations on the theme I can think of.

February is heart or Valentine's month so will keep the gift shops stocked!

Also find online (visit my website homepage), free shipping of cards in Canada.

A few shots from "Painting a Klee-Inspired Citysca A few shots from "Painting a Klee-Inspired Cityscape", this Sunday's workshop at Cloud 9.

Paul Klee, a modern painter who taught at the Bauhaus school in Germany, early 20th century, was a great example to follow when learning about colour values (lights and darks).

Before painting we drew out a simple grid and added shapes such as triangles or half circles and window and doors - making the drawing part simple. Then we painted in a few different values of 2-3 colours.

Values is one of the three attributes of colour, the others being "hue" and "intensity"; which I cover in other acrylics classes. Having a basic understanding of how colour works is helpful for any art activity.

Still upcoming: Drawing Portraits, A Creative Mix and Acrylics: Flowers Inspired by O'Keefe.
