Night Watch

Night Watch, 2019

I enjoy painting with a tall vertical format as I live in a place that has very tall trees and it seems this is the only way to accurately portray them.  All the values are low in the painting, except for the fire – if you turn down the lights in a room, then the fire in this print actually does glow.  The sky has a colour transition from light to dark in a slightly purply blue that you only see shortly after the sun has set.   The stars have just started coming out…
