In history, a still life painting often included flowers, candles or a skull, reminders of the ephemerality of life’s pleasures (I also included butterflies). I called the painting Carpe Diem or “seize the day”. It is a reminder to be present for what life has to offer as we don’t know what tomorrow will bring.
