Arrival, 2020-21

This painting was shaped by my experience on a raft trip in the Yukon – particularly the animal prints and the light aspen-like trees in foreground.  It combines a couple different perspectives: from the boat and from far away, making it feel like a bit of a dream.  I chose the title “Arrival” to comment on how the experience of wilderness can lead us back to ourselves.
