Myth Maker
Myth Maker 2013
In this magical night scene a fire on the beach sends sparks into the sky while a white dog walks towards the viewer. In the distance is a cruise ship or a ferry. This is reminiscent of many beaches around where I live on Vancouver Island. I called the painting “Myth Maker” as I was thinking about the very ancient human practice of gathering around a fire, telling stories which eventually were shaped into myths – and how that practice continues.
I grew up by the ocean where many summer evenings were spent roasting hotdogs and marshmallows. Exerpt from my blog post “Burning Thoughts”. READ MORE….
