Fireweed II
Fireweed II, 2023
Original: acrylic on canvas, 6″ x 18″, $425
Fireweed is very familiar to me as it often grows in clearcuts, which I happen to have spent much time in treeplanting or mountainbiking. It’s particularly memorable in the fall when the low angle evening sun shines through it’s red leaves, making them look on fire. It’s purple spring flowers look gorgeous against a blue sky and later turn to white fluff that floats in the air and can annoyingly get caught in your nostrils especially when breathing hard. When treeplanting with my husband, it used to get stuck all over his beard. These are just a few of my memories with fireweed!
