Eastern Sky  2010

This painting is of one of the incredible sunrises I would often see where I grew up at Point Holmes, Comox, B.C.  – the reference is from a photograph I took as a child.  The sand cliffs, beach and clouds are stylized to emphasize the quiet mood of the secluded beach where I’ve have spent much time contemplating life.  The highly contrasting colours of blue and orange and movement in the sky also add a sense of drama.
